2004 Lois Lowry Talk and Signing
Over 500 people filled the State College high school auditorium to hear
Lois Lowry speak, and many stayed to have the author sign copies of her
books.
In a talk titled "Jonas is Alive and Well," Lois Lowry
talked about The Giver, her life, and how plotting a book is a
lot like trying to fly to State College when almost all your flights have been
missed or canceled (an unfortunately true story, but with a happy
ending—she arrived in time).

75 Phillipsburg-Osceola students rode a bus in to State College to eat pizza and discuss The Giver
before the talk.

Barnes & Noble set up a mini-store outside the auditorium and sold
dozens of Lois Lowry's books. |

The line for the signing stretched across the lobby and around the
corner. Lois signed for an hour, and made a lot of readers happy. |
