Read

The most important step—read the Riding the Bus with My Sister!

We've also collected a list of fiction and non-fiction companion books for readers of all ages that relate to the themes of this year's book.

Discuss

One of the benefits of reading one book as a community is that there are lots of people ready to discuss the book with you.

How to run a discussion group: See our Discussion Group page for sample discussion questions, tips on leading a discussion, and lists of other book groups meeting in the area.

Teachers: For ideas on incorporating this year's book with your classes, see the Riding the Bus with My Sister Literature Mini-Unit (Word file), appropriate for students in Grades 7-9.

Go to Events!

Check back at this website for details on events. We'll have a kickoff event in fall of 2005, followed by other exciting events related to the chosen book.  Some of the highlights: In 2004 Lois Lowry visited to discuss The Giver, and in 2003 a theatre group staged a production of To Kill a Mockingbird inside the Centre County courthouse.
